7. How to ask for a record
- Fill in Form 2 (Request for access to a record) from the PAIA Regulations, available from the Information Regulator, and email or deliver it to our Information Officer.
- Say which record you want, and how you want it (a copy, or to look at it).
- If you ask on someone else’s behalf, show that you may.
- The fees set in the PAIA Regulations may apply. We’ll tell you before we charge anything.
- We’ll answer within 30 days.
We may refuse a request only for the reasons PAIA allows, for example to protect someone else’s privacy or confidential business information. If we refuse, we’ll explain why. You can then complain to the Information Regulator or go to court.
